Volunteer (Seva)

“The beauty and charm of selfless love and service should not die away from the face of this earth. The world should know that a life of dedication is possible, that a life inspired by love and service to humanity is possible.”

– Amma

Seva is at the heart of Amma’s teaching, and the example she sets is an inspiration to millions.

Seva is action in the service of others carried out with enthusiasm and discernment, without seeking personal gain.

The charity is run by volunteers, committed to serving society by embodying the values of selfless service and sharing. The inner attitude with which an action is carried out is more important than the action itself. In this sense, seva is a genuine spiritual practice.

This philosophy is part of the Indian spiritual tradition known as Karma Yoga.

In today’s world, as life speeds up, so does the mind. As a result, a lot of people are stressed and tense. Amma encouraged this centre so that we can take the time to reflect on ourselves, to imbibe her values, to take action to serve the world and thus make a real contribution to society.
